The history of Internet and of TIC on Fleury-sur-Orne is closely linked to its Internet site. Announced since 2001, the Internet site of the village comes into the world only in March, 2009. In August, 2009, things accelerate. After only some months after its opening, the village becomes aware of stakes and of trumps that are possible give Internet to these citizens. The City makes the choice then to acquire its own accommodation, adopt free CMS wordpress, decide to develop activities more strongly linked to the Internet and if incrit on the platform of the Internet Cities. En août 2009, les choses s’accélèrent. Après seulement quelques mois après son ouverture, la commune prend conscience des enjeux et des atouts que peuvent offrir Internet à ces citoyens. La Ville fait le choix alors d’acquérir son propre hébergement, adopte le CMS libre wordpress, décide de développer plus fortement des activités liés à l’Internet et s’incrit sur la plateforme des Villes Internet.

In December, 2009, on the occasion of the 11th edition of the national quality-label Internet City, the City of Fleury-sur-Orne is seen awarding for its first participation three. In the Applejack, only two villages get the quality-label this year: Fleury-sur-Orne (@@) and Cabourg (@). Fleury-sur-Orne is therefore the first Internet City 2010 of the Applejack. This differentiation rewards all the actions led by Fleury-sur-Orne in favour of a citizen's local Internet to the disposition of all for general interest. Fleury-sur-Orne implemented a significant politics in democratisation of TIC and their citizen's manners. Fleury-sur-Orne est donc la première Ville Internet 2010 du Calvados. Cette distinction récompense l’ensemble des actions menées par Fleury-sur-Orne en faveur d’un Internet local citoyen à la disposition de tous pour l’intérêt général. Fleury-sur-Orne a mis en œuvre une politique significative en matière de démocratisation des TIC et de leurs usages citoyens. Le label a permi d’obtenir une bonne couverture presse, un rayonnement et un engouement de ses habitants ses auquel la municipalité ne s’attendait pas.

The City of Fleury-sur-Orne counts 4200 inhabitants today. In spite of its size, the City reduced involvements linked to Internet on its territory and is part from now on of big in this domain. This success, the City owes it to local services, to associations, and naturally to Fleurysiennes and to Fleurysiens. Cette réussite, la Ville le doit aux services municipaux, aux associations,… et bien évidemment aux Fleurysiennes et aux Fleurysiens.
